Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (-3)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
Lamar Jackson got outdueled in Week 2 by Tua Tagovailoa, as the Ravens took a 42-38 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Jackson went 21/29 for 318 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions and also ran for 119 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, but those were not enough to overcome Tagovailoa’s eruption. But the Ravens would be an especially cursed team if they see another performance like that of Tagovailoa’s in Week 3 from Mac Jones. The Patriots’ offense simply doesn’t have the talent Miami has.
The Ravens are 3-2 against the spread in their last five road games.
Betting on the New England Patriots (+3)
Regular Season Record: 1-1
After losing to Miami in Week 1 on the road, the Patriots finally got a win this season with a 17-14 victory away from home over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday. Now, the Patriots are coming home to Foxborough for their first game at Gillette Stadium this season feeling good after a win. Mac Jones went 21/35 for 252 passing yards (1 touchdown, 1 INT) against the Steelers, while wide receiver Nelson Agholor had 110 receiving yards and a touchdown on six receptions and six targets. The offense has a long way to go for the Patriots, but their defense could be a problem for the Ravens, particularly against the run. The Pats just held running back Najee Harris to only 49 rushing yards on 14 carries. Plus, Bill Belichick is always a threat to come up with something to neutralize opposing offenses.
The Patriots are 4-2 against the spread in their last six games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Ravens win, 23-20.
