The Cincinnati Bengals had a very good Week 15. With the loss of the Baltimore Ravens and the Bengals’ victory last Sunday, Cincinnati now finds itself atop the AFC North division, but they still need to win more to lock that position up. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots just to wash away the embarrassment of their loss in Week 16 with a win this coming Sunday. The Bengals are still hot. After defeating the Tampa Buccaneers last Sunday on the road, 34-23, the Bengals have now won six games in a row. Joe Burrow passed for 200 yards and four touchdowns. Cincy was down by as many as 17 points in the first half but Burrow and the lethal Bengals offense got hot at just the perfect time for a comeback. Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Body, Mitchell Wilcox, and Tee Higgins each had a touchdown reception against the Buccaneers. The Patriots’ defense can be stretched out by the plethora of talent the Bengals have downfield, and that’s not to mention the pass-catching tailback duo of Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine.
The Bengals are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 games overall.
Betting on the New England Patriots (+3.5)
Regular Season Record: 7-7
Much has been said about how ridiculously bad the way the Patriots lost to the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday on the road. The Patriots suffered a 30-24 defeat to Las Vegas after a lateral play near the end of regulation ended up with the Raiders scoring a defensive touchdown. The Patriots will need to have a short memory and forget the pain of that defeat. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who was questionable to play days before the Raiders game, showed he’s healthy when he rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries versus the Raiders. New England’s defense is no joke and it can potentially cripple Cincinnati’s attack.
The Patriots, who are sixth in the NFL with just 19.2 points allowed per game, are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games after a loss.
Writer’s Prediction
The Patriots win, 24-21.
