Regular Season Record: 1-0
Tyreek Hill’s debut for the Dolphins was much anticipated heading into Week 1 against the New England Patriots, but it was Miami’s defense that starred the most. The Dolphins had a defensive touchdown, interception, and a forced fumble in their 20-7 home win over New England Sunday. Tua Tagovailoa went 23/33 for 270 passing yards and a touchdown without getting intercepted, while Hill had a game-high 94 receiving yards on eight catches and 12 targets. Hill will be facing tougher coverage in Week 2 versus the Ravens, but he’s always gotten the better of opposing defenders, so as long as he’s out there, he will create a significant impact for the Fins. Plus, second-year wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is another headache waiting to happen for the Ravens after he posted 69 receiving yards and a touchdown on four catches and five targets in Week 1.
The Dolphins are 2-1-1 against the spread in their last four road games.
Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (-4)
Regular Season Record: 1-0
Speaking of defense, the Ravens also showed out on that side of the ball in Week 1 against the New York Jets. Baltimore sacked Jets quarterback Joe Flacco three times, intercepted him once, and also forced a fumble. With secondary studs like Marcus Williams and Marlon Humphries, the Ravens are going to be all over Hill and Waddle downfield. Tagovailoa is far from a polished quarterback and still very much susceptible to making poor decisions, so look for Baltimore’s opportunistic defense to take advantage. On offense, Lamar Jackson is clearly the better quarterback than Tagovailoa, and he’ll look to one-up his solid performance in Week 1 when he threw for three touchdowns against an interception.
The Ravens are 3-1 against the spread in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Ravens win, 26-22.
