Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (4-2)
After back-to-back losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns, the Ravens got two cakewalk wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals to get back on track. Beating up non-playoff contenders sure did a lot to boost their morale, and the momentum is a big plus for the Ravens, who once again believe in themselves as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Lamar Jackson put up huge numbers in their 23-17 home win in Week 6 against the Bengals, passing for 236 yards and rushing for 152 more to go with a rushing score. The Seahawks defense can find a way to slow Jackson down, but if the offensive line gives Jackson and Mark Ingram great protection and space to run through, the Seahawks might get Nick Chubb-ed again. The Browns’ running back had his way against Seattle last week, and that’s a good sign for Baltimore’s offense that ranks first in the NFL with 205.0 rushing yards per game.
The Ravens are 4-1-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last six road games.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (5-1)
There’s no doubting how valuable Russell Wilson is to the Seahawks. Based on his play this season, it feels right to say that he deserves to get protected to almost a fault by Pete Carroll, as alleged by many past Seahawks players. Wilson has been an efficient offensive machine for the Seahawks, who scored an incredible 32-28 come-from-behind win over the Cleveland Browns on the road a week ago. In that game, Wilson passed for 295 passing yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-33 completions. Running back Chris Carson provided ample support for Wilson by rushing for 124 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. Wilson also had 31 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. The Ravens have upgraded their defense with the acquisition of cornerback Marcus Peters, but it’s probably too early for Peters to get fully familiarized with Baltimore’s system and philosophy on defense.
The Seahawks are 7-3 straight up (SU) in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Seahawks win, 30-23.
