No spread will go uncovered. Apparently, that’s a tenet that the Minutemen and Wildcats have been abiding by this season. In the Totals, the Scarlett Knights are killing it on the Over, while the Huskies are barking with consistency at the Under. Plus, Harvard makes an appearance on this list to present an interesting (and proving to be lucrative) thesis.
[sc:BettingArticlesShortcoder ]College Basketball Betting Power Rankings – December 18
Teams | Trends |
---|---|
Massachusetts Minutemen | 7-0 ATS in last 7 |
Rutgers Scarlet Knights | 6-0 OVER in last 6 games |
Villanova Wildcats | 6-0 ATS in last 6 games |
Connecticut Huskies | 4-0 UNDER |
Harvard Crimson | 3-0 ATS in last 3 at home |
1. Massachusetts Minutemen
Trend: 7-0 ATS in last 7 games
Next Game: @ Ohio Bobcats – December 18 | 7:00 PM ET
The Minutemen are 9-0 SU to begin the season. It is their best start in almost 20 years, dating back to when the team blazed to 26-0 SU in the 1995-1996 season. Led by junior Cady Lalanne, who finished with 17 points and added 5 boards, the No. 22-ranked Massachusetts ran over Northern Illinois 80-54, comfortably erasing the 21-point spread as favorites. The Minutemen have been blasting opponents by an average of 13.8 points in their last five games. [sc:NCAAB240banner ]
2. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Trend: 6-0 OVER in last 6 games
Next Game: vs. Army Black Knights – December 22 | 2:00 PM ET
By the time the Scarlett Knights came out of the dugout tunnel for the second half of their game against UNC Greensboro last Saturday, bettors who went Over were already seeing dollar signs. That is because Rutgers exploded for 52 first half points (while UNCG added 33 points) to put the game safely on pace to break the Totals line of 153.5. The game ended with Rutgers on top, 89-72, stopping a four-game skid and extending their streak to six games of going Over.
3. Villanova Wildcats
Trend: 6-0 ATS in last 6 games
Next Game: vs. Rider Broncs – December 21 | 4:00 PM ET
Maybe it’s time to heed what the Wildcats have been preaching throughout the season: that they will crush teams both on the scoreboard and in the spread column. Villanova reigns supreme in the Big East with a clean 10-0 SU ledger. Other than being unbeaten, the Wildcats are also trampling teams by a wide margin of 18.3 PPG.
4. Connecticut Huskies
Trend: 4-0 UNDER this season in games with a Totals Line
Next Game: vs. Stanford Cardinal – December 18 | 9:00 PM ET
The Huskies remain the only undefeated team in the American Conference, which is saying a lot since they’re grouped with defending champions, Louisville. Connecticut has gone Under in all four of its last games when a Totals line is released.
5. Harvard Crimson
Trend: 3-0 ATS in last 3 at home
Next Game: vs. Vermont Catamounts – December 21 | 4:00 PM ET
If covering the spread at Cambridge is as hard as passing the admission exam at Harvard, then the Crimson are doing a fine job of making us believe. When installed as the home team, Harvard hasn’t lost against the spread so far this season, going 3-0 ATS.
