Week 6 is going to be a very busy week for the members of the SEC West, otherwise known as arguably the single-toughest division in all of college football. Of the five undefeated teams in the division, four will be involved in two games that will guarantee at least two teams a first loss of the season.
Learn more about those games in our in-depth previews of Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State and Alabama vs. Ole Miss. Afterwards, find out more about the three other games that you won’t want to miss this week in college football.

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs (Saturday, October 4, 12:00 PM ET)
Line: Texas A&M Aggies (+2.5) at Mississippi State Bulldogs (-2.5); total 68.0 – view all NCAA Football lines
[sc:NCAA240banner ]Kenny “Trill” Hill and the Aggies were made to sweat one out for the first time last week against Arkansas, and they just barely pulled out a 35-28 win in overtime. The No. 6-ranked Aggies now travel to Starkville, Mississippi to face No. 12-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs, who are coming off a big road win over LSU.
Do-it-all quarterback Dak Prescott had 373 total yards and three touchdowns, fueling fire to his Heisman candidacy. He’s currently priced at +1,200. This will be a big game for both teams, who are currently undefeated and are very much still in the race for the SEC West title.
Writer’s Prediction: Prescott outduels Hill as the Bulldogs bring down the Aggies.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Ole Miss Rebels (Saturday, October 4, 3:30 PM ET)
Line: Alabama Crimson Tide (-7) at Ole Miss Rebels (+7); total 51.0 – view all NCAA Football lines
It’s pretty safe to say Blake Sims (73 percent completion, 1,091 passing yards, eight TDs) has Alabama’s starting quarterback spot locked up. But he and the rest of the Tide are about to get their toughest test to date when they take on No. 11 Ole Miss on the road.
But the great Rebel defense which is allowing just 248 yards per game (fourth in the nation) and has 11 takeaways already this season, will have its hands full containing an Alabama offense that’s also fourth in the nation with 594.3 total yards per game. The Tide also have a 10-game winning streak against the Rebels.
Writer’s Prediction: The Tide offense overruns Ole Miss as Bama remains unbeaten this season.
Stanford Cardinal vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Saturday, October 4, 3:30 PM ET)
Line: Stanford Cardinal (-2) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+2); total 44.5 – view all NCAA Football lines
So far so good for the undefeated Irish, who have won their first four games all by over two touchdowns. Quarterback Everett Golson has been at the heart of their success, with three or more touchdowns in every game thus far.
However Golson and the entire Irish offense will have to break the resistance of No. 14 Stanford’s defense, which has given up just two offensive touchdowns all season.
Writer’s Prediction: Golson gets stopped in his tracks by the Cardinal, who go on to score a big road win in South Bend.

LSU Tigers vs. Auburn Tigers (Saturday, October 4, 7:00 PM ET)
Line: LSU Tigers (+7.5) at Auburn Tigers (-7.5); total 56.0 – view all NCAA Football lines
LSU handed Auburn its only regular season loss in 2013, but that win came in Baton Rouge. Nick Marshall and the undefeated (Auburn) Tigers will be out to even the score when they host LSU at Jordan-Hare Stadium this week in another big SEC West showdown.
Auburn went 4-0 at home against ranked opponents last season, whereas LSU is 1-3 in its last four SEC road games.
Writer’s Prediction: LSU hinders Auburn’s vaunted running game enough to cover on the road.
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Michigan State Spartans (Saturday, October 4, 8:00 PM ET)
Line: Nebraska Cornhuskers (+7) at Michigan State Spartans (-7); total 59.0 – view all NCAA Football lines
Nebraska is the only Big Ten school left standing with a perfect record. Heisman candidate running back Ameer Abdullah is college football’s leading rusher so far with 833 yards and eight touchdowns in five games.
But Abdullah and the Huskers may not be perfect for much longer as they travel to East Lansing to face the defending Big Ten champions, Michigan State. The Spartans are known more for their defense but they’re currently averaging over 50 points per game and are the third highest scoring team in college football behind just Baylor and Texas A&M.
Writer’s Prediction: The Spartans front seven slows down Abdullah, while the offense continues it scoring spree in another Michigan State win.
