NCAAB – Michigan Wolverines vs. Ohio State Buckeyes (9:00 PM ET)
[sc:NCAAB240banner ]After being dealt with an 85-67 loss by the Hawkeyes Saturday, Michigan aims to bounce back against another Top 25 team, rival Ohio State.
Michigan’s defense did not show up against Iowa, which allowed them to score the highest non-overtime number of points against the Wolverines since 2007. This season, Michigan is keeping opponents to an average of 64.6 PPG.
Tonight’s game against Ohio State is the Wolverines’ third on the road in a span of nine days. They are 3-1 Over in their last four road games.
Odds: Michigan (+4) vs. Buckeyes (-4), O/U: 128.5
Ohio State returned to Top 25 of the AP poll rankings after notching three straight wins to ease the damage caused by the Buckeyes’ horrible play last January, where they went 2-5 SU. The Buckeyes began February with a morale-boosting 59-58 win over No. 14 Wisconsin before proceeding to beat No. 17 Iowa, 76-69. They obtained their third straight victory against Purdue, 67-49.
Playing at home for the second straight game, the Buckeyes could continue Michigan’s futility at Columbus. Ohio State is 18-0 SU in its last 18 games at home against the Wolverines.
NBA – Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Portland Trail Blazers (10:00 PM ET)
Northwest division leading Thunder hit the road two days after a 112-100 home win against the Knicks. This time the Thunder will head to Portland to face division rivals, the Trail Blazers. The Thunder are 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games at Portland.
Once again, Kevin Durant will attempt to wield his scoring prowess against the equally high-scoring Trail Blazers. The leading MVP-candidate’s offense is on another level this season, but is on an even higher plane when playing against Portland.
In the three times the Thunder and Trail Blazers have met this season, Durant averaged 38.7 PPG – the most against any team.
Durant continued his brilliance Sunday night against the Knicks where he scored 41 points on 12-22 shooting from the floor. He also added 10 rebounds and 9 assists for a near triple-double performance.
Odds: Thunder (+1) vs. Trail Blazers (-1), O/U: 211.5
The Blazers rattled the Kevin Love-less Minnesota team on Saturday to continue their win-loss-win pattern. The bench was instrumental in Portland’s win as rookie guard C.J. McCollum scored a career-high 19 points, while Joel Freeland contributed 11 points.
Portland seemed to have regained its scoring touch by putting up at least 113 points in its last two games. The Blazers compiled 113 points in their overtime loss against Indiana (No.1 in scoring defense) before firing 117 points against Minnesota.
Those two games followed a five-game stretch that saw the Blazers fail to score more than 94 points in four games. Portland is No. 1 in the NBA in scoring with an average of 108.0 PPG.
The Blazers are 6-1 SU in their last seven games at Moda Center.
