Opening festivities tonight is the much-anticipated AL East showdown between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees. Then, the Oakland Athletics square off with the Toronto Blue Jays in a marquee American League matchup.

The Bronx Bombers will look to make it back-to-back wins when they take on the Baltimore Orioles in the opening game of their three-game set later tonight. Starting for the Yankees this evening is Nathan Eovaldi (9-2, 4.50 ERA). He surrendered three runs on seven hits in five innings of action in New York’s 8-6 win against Boston on July 12. The Yankees have won four of their last five games with Eovaldi as their starting pitcher.
The Orioles, on the other hand, will counter with left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (4-5, 2.78 ERA). He took a tough loss against the Nationals on July 12 wherein he allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and no walks with seven strikeouts across eight innings. The Orioles are 5-2 in Chen’s last seven starts.
The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five home games against the Orioles.

The Oakland Athletics extended their winning streak to two games with an emphatic 14-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Josh Reddick hit a towering grand slam for the A’s who cleared the fences a season-high five times in the game. The A’s will look to sustain the momentum of their huge victory when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays in their series opener tonight.
Starting for Oakland in Game 1 is Kendall Graveman (6-5, 3.38 ERA). He struggled in his last start, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks in just 5.2 innings of action in Oakland’s 5-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He will have his work cut out for him again later this evening as he will face veteran left-hander Mark Buehrle (10-5, 3.34 ERA). Toronto has won three of its last four games with Buehrle as its starter. He was solid in his last start on July 11, giving up just two runs on five hits in seven innings of work in the Blue Jays’ 6-2 win against the Kansas City Royals.
