San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (8:00 PM ET)
Line: San Antonio Spurs (-1) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (+1) – total: 208.5 – view all NBA lines
It’s a clash of styles – the team-oriented Spurs versus the one-man wrecking crew of the Thunder. San Antonio is about Kawhi Leonard and some hint of LaMarcus Aldridge, but all in all, they are arguably the most balanced squad in the league, as evidenced by averaging a respectable 106.1 PPG and ranking inside the top seven in points allowed, offensive efficiency, and defensive efficiency.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, begins and ends with triple-double machine Russell Westbrook (31.8 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 10.4 APG), who leads his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and threes. He averages 15.5 more points than the next leading scorer in the team.
The Spurs and Thunder have split their two meetings this season.
Writer’s Prediction
The Spurs (-1) win, 110-102.
Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors (10:30 PM ET)
Line: Houston Rockets (+7) vs. Golden State Warriors (-7) – total: 228.5 – view all NBA lines
The Warriors are peaking at the right time. They are now winners of nine straight games, and with the return of Kevin Durant (knee) right around the corner, they could be in a perfect position for a smooth playoff run. The Dubs’ play on both ends during the said stretch is almost scary – they win by an average of 15.9 points and shoot 51.2 percent from the floor, while holding foes to a mediocre 41.3 shooting clip.
James Harden and the Rockets, on the other hand, are in a bad spot. They have now dropped back-to-back after winning seven of the eight games prior. Harden is a combined 16-for-50 with 12 turnovers in those pair of defeats.
Golden State leads the season series, 2-1, beating Houston twice after falling during last December’s double OT thriller.
Writer’s Prediction
The Warriors (-7) win, 123-108.
