Clemson Tigers vs. Boston College Eagles (7:30 PM ET)
Line: Clemson Tigers (-17) vs. Boston College Eagles (+17); total: 43.0 – view all NCAAF lines
Coming off a huge 42-36 win over Louisville last week, the Tigers will have a lighter opponent, albeit on the road, later tonight in the form of Boston College. Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson must be raring to get back on the field against the Eagles’ defense that he torched for 420 passing yards with three touchdowns in a 34-17 win last season. Boston College’s defense, however, is much better this season than in 2015, as the Eagles are currently 16th in the nation in scoring defense with only 17.2 points per game allowed.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson Tigers (-17) wins, 31-14.
San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs (9:00 PM ET)
Line: San Francisco Giants (+155) vs. Chicago Cubs (-175); total: 7.0 – view all MLB lines
It’s the start of the National League Division Series between the Giants and the Cubs later tonight. After beating the Mets in the wild card game, 3-0, San Francisco will roll with Johnny Cueto, who’s been fantastic away from AT&T Park in the regular season, where he had a 10-2 record and a 2.78 ERA in 17 road starts. Cueto has one start thus far this year against the Cubs, allowing just one earned run on five hits, albeit in a 3-2 loss at Wrigley Field on September 4. Chicago, meanwhile, will counter with lefty Jon Lester, who’ll be facing a Giants team that hit .253 against southpaws in the regular season. Lester is 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA in five career starts against San Francisco.
Writer’s Prediction
Chicago (-175) wins, 5-2.
