[sc:MLB240banner ]The new-look Toronto Blue Jays have become a force to be reckoned with for the top clubs in the American League. They’ll get another shot at World Series favorites and AL Central leaders the Kansas City Royals in the last game of their four-game series tonight. The Jays lead the series 2-1. Jose Bautista had a pair of solo homers in a 7-6 loss Saturday afternoon, while Josh Donaldson fired off a two-run homer.

Donaldson has yet to face Edinson Volquez (10-5, 3.21 ERA) in his career while Bautista is 3 for 14 with two doubles, three RBIs and two walks against the Royals starter. Volquez is riding back-to-back wins, allowing a total of four earned runs in 13.2 innings. The Jays counter with R.A. Dickey (5-10, 4.27 ERA), who’s also looking for his third straight win. Dickey didn’t allow an earned run in his last outing, an 8-2 victory over Philadelphia in July 29.

Writer’s Prediction

A solid outing from Volquez ties the series for the Royals.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (4:10 PM ET)

Line: Los Angeles Angels at Los Angeles Dodges – view all MLB lines

The Dodgers didn’t get a certain Cole Hammels or a David Price to bolster their rotation before the trade deadline, but they did nab a solid pitcher in Mat Latos (4-7, 4.48 ERA), who’s been pretty impressive away from Marlins Park. Latos has a 2.44 ERA in games held away from his former ballpark, limiting opposing batters to a .225 batting average. He makes his Dodgers debut in the third game of the Freeway Series against the Angels.

The new Dodgers starter will have his hands full against Angels sluggers Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. Trout is batting 3 of 8 with a triple, a homer and three RBIs in the Freeway Series, while Pujols is a step behind going 2 for 8 with an RBI. The two will have their work cut out for them to provide much needed run support with Drew Rucinski (0-1, 7.71 ERA) on the mound. Rucinski makes his first start this season after allowing four earned runs on six hits and four walks in 2.2 innings of relief on April 14.

Writer’s Prediction

The Dodgers outslug their rivals 6-5.
