The Los Angeles Dodgers are brimming with confidence heading into their series finale against the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers have dominated Atlanta 7-0 in their last seven meetings, and are set to do so again. Los Angeles is starting Hyun-Jin Ryu (13-5, 3.21 ERA) who has gone 4-0 with a 1.91 ERA in his last five starts. He most recently threw a shutout on the road against the Los Angeles Angels on August 7. Ryu will have Atlanta’s batters scratching at their heads.
On the other hand, the Atlanta Braves are starting their own excellent pitcher Ervin Santana (11-6, 3.69 ERA). The Braves are 5-0 in Santana’s last five starts, but the starter is 4-4 with a 3.47 ERA in eight games against the Dodgers.

After losing the first game of the series, the Oakland Athletics responded with an 11-3 blowout against the Kansas City Royals yesterday. With their batters finding their strokes, they will be confident leading into the final game against the Royals tonight. However, the A’s may find themselves in trouble as they are 1-4 in Scott Kazmir’s (13-4, 2.73 ERA) last five starts against Kansas City.
The Royals, meanwhile, start Jason Vargas (8-5, 3.48 ERA). KC rose to the top of AL Central with an eight-game win streak, which was broken by the A’s. They are in for another rough night as they are 1-6 starting Vargas in game three of a series.
