Who’s ready for another duel between Paul George and LeBron James at The Q? Or better yet, how about a battle of grit and experience between the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs? We have both matchups previewed for you below, as the 2017 NBA Playoffs continue this Monday night.
Paul George and LeBron James both led their respective squads in a classic Game 1, where the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers won by just a hair, 109-108. George finished with 29 points and seven assists, while the King had 32 points and 13 dimes to his name. James also received valuable support from his co-stars in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love who combined for 40 points. That was way below the help that George got from his fellow starters in Jeff Teague (15 points) and Monta Ellis (11). The Indiana Pacers really need more out of those two if they want to complete the deed in Game 2.
Marc Gasol was a one-man show in Game 1, leading the Grizzlies with 32 points on 61.1 percent shooting despite being thumped by the Spurs, 111-82. Memphis will undoubtedly continue to pound the ball inside through the Spaniard, but the team also needs Mike Conley and Zach Randolph to bounce back from their forgettable performance in the opener. If those two fail to do so, expect an easy win again for San Antonio, which was led by Kawhi Leonard (32 points) and LaMarcus Aldridge (20 points) in the first game.
