[sc:NBA240banner ]The top two teams of the Atlantic Division meet tonight, when the Knicks cross borders for a matchup with Toronto. The Knicks are coming off a 99-95 win against Los Angeles on Sunday, stopping New York’s three-game skid. Four Knicks scored in double digits, led by Carmelo Anthony’s 24 markers on 8-for-20 shooting. Offense may be harder to come by for New York against the Raptors, though.
The Raptors are sixth in the league in defense, limiting opponents to only 95.1 PPG. As solid as their defense has been thus far this season, the Raptors’ offense has also fallen off a bit, averaging just 81.5 PPG in the last two games.
The Knicks are 6-0 ATS in their last six road games, while the Raptors are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Toronto wins, 101-95.
New York Islanders vs. San Jose Sharks (10:30 PM ET)
Line: New York Islanders at San Jose Sharks – view all NHL lines
It’s been a rough spell for the Islanders of late, as they’ve lost five of their last six games, including a 2-1 setback at the hands of Boston on Sunday. New York, who boasts one of the best group of scorers in the league, has been a letdown on offense during that stretch, wherein the Islanders were outscored, 15-9.
The Isles will be looking to break out of their slump when they take on the Sharks later tonight. That’s going to be easier said than done, as San Jose is 15th in the league with 2.6 goals allowed per contest. The Sharks have been inconsistent lately, going 2-2 in their past four games. They are coming off a 1-0 loss to Anaheim on Saturday. The Islanders are 3-2 in their last five games against San Jose. The Sharks, meanwhile, are 7-3 in their last 10 home games against New York.
Writer’s Prediction
New York wins, 3-2.
