The New York Yankees’ losing woes continue after they were edged by the Cleveland Indians, 5-4, during last night’s series opener. They’ve now lost four-straight games and will get another shot to put an end to this slump when they send CC Sabathia (4-8, 5.34 ERA) on the mound tonight for Game 2.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Sabathia aims for his fifth win of the season against the Indians, who drafted him 17 years ago. That may just be the case, as he’s coming off a solid outing in a 2-1 victory at Boston on Thursday, during which he logged in six innings of one-run ball while also adding eight strikeouts to his name. Sabathia is 4-1 with a 2.94 ERA in seven career starts against the Indians.
Cleveland, meanwhile, counters with Danny Salazar, who is 9-6 with a 3.38 ERA on the year. He has yielded just two runs on four hits in 14 innings of work across his last two contests. Salazar carries a 4-2 record and a 3.42 ERA at home this season and faces the Yankees for the first time in his career.
The Yankees are 6-4 in Sabathia’s last 10 starts. The Indians, on the other hand, are 4-8 in their last 12 home games.

Yankees (+130) win, 6-3.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Chicago White Sox (8:10 PM ET)
Line: Los Angeles Angels (-130) vs. Chicago White Sox (+120); total: 8.5– view all MLB lines
After losing the first two meetings of their series, the Los Angeles Angels have one last chance to get a win in their series finale against the Chicago White Sox tonight. They’ll be handing the ball to Andrew Heaney, who is 5-1 with a quality 2.45 ERA in eight starts this year.
But Heaney pitched terribly in his most recent outing versus the Orioles Friday night, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits in over 5 2/3 innings of work. Fortunately though, he still managed to pick up the win thanks to the big productions from the Angels’ offense. Heaney has been remarkable during road games this season, owning a 2-1 record and a 1.83 ERA to boast about.
The White Sox, on the other hand, will start John Danks (6-9, 4.79 ERA) this evening. He returns to the mound after losing at Kansas City on August 7, where he surrendered three earned runs on five hits in six frames. Across 11 turns against the Angels, Danks is 3-4 with a decent 3.11 ERA and .236 opponents’ batting average.
Los Angeles is 7-1 in Heaney’s last eight starts. Chicago, meanwhile, is 4-1 in its last five home games with Danks starting.
Writer’s Prediction
The Angels (-130) bounce back with a 6-3 triumph.
