[sc:MLB240banner ]The New York Yankees had their three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a heavy 8-1 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays. They will look to return to the win column tonight when they take on the Oakland Athletics in the opening game of their three-game set. Starting for the Yankees tonight is Nathan Eovaldi (8-2, 4.52 ERA). He was superb in his last start, pitching 5.1 shutout innings in New York’s 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees are 3-0 in Eovaldi’s last three starts.
The A’s, on the other hand, will counter with ace Sonny Gray (9-3, 2.09 ERA). The A’s have won five of their last seven games with Gray as their starter. This will be Gray’s first start, though, since having a bout of severe salmonella last week.

New York wins, 5-3.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Colorado Rockies (8:40 PM ET)
Line: Los Angeles Angels (-130) at Colorado Rockies (+120); total: 11.0 – view all MLB lines
The Los Angeles Angels stretched their unbeaten run to three games with a resounding 12-6 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Albert Pujols hit his 25th homer for the Angels who scored a whopping 33 runs in the three-game sweep. They will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they take on the Colorado Rockies in the opening game of their three-game set later tonight. Starting for the Angels this evening is Andrew Heaney (1-0, 1.38 ERA). The left-hander has looked brilliant in his first two Angels starts, as he has a 1.38 ERA and 12 strikeouts against three walks in 13 innings of action.
The Rockies, on the other hand, will have right-hander Chad Bettis (4-3, 3.67 ERA) on the mound tonight. He allowed three runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings of work in Colorado’s 4-1 loss to the Oakland A’s on July 1. The Rockies have won seven of their last 10 games with Bettis as their starting pitcher.
