Jake Peavy steps on the mound later tonight, as he sets his sights on getting his fifth win of the year. So far this season, Peavy is 4-6 with an underwhelming 5.22 ERA. He’s been better of late, however, going 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in four starts this June. The Athletics will counter with Sean Manaea, who is coming off a 15-day stint on the disabled list. He is 2-4 with a 6.02 ERA in nine starts in 2016. The Giants are 3-0 in Peavy’s last three starts. Jameson Taillon (1-1, 4.50 ERA) looks to bounce back from a pair of letdown performances when he takes the mound tonight for the Pirates. Taillon has given up eight earned runs on 16 hits over his last two starts. He’ll be dueling with Wade Miley, who is 6-3 with a 5.28 ERA in 13 starts this season. Miley is 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA in five career starts against Pittsburgh dating back to 2011. The over is 3-0 in Taillon’s last three starts. The Mariners are 8-2 in Miley’s last 10 starts overall.
