Line: Seattle Mariners (-140) at Philadelphia Phillies (+130); total 8.5 – view these lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]The Seattle Mariners are running hot with three-straight series wins against the Chicago White Sox, Toronto and Detroit. They have now overtaken Detroit for the second wild card spot, and it looks like they can pull further away with Roenis Elias (9-9, 4.14 ERA) starting against the Philadelphia Phillies. Elias is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 18 innings in three interleague starts.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies cannot get anything going, dropping five of their last six. Their struggles may be set to continue as they start newly-acquired pitcher Jerome Williams (2-5, 6.43 ERA). In his last two starts, Williams has given up 12 runs (all earned) from 18 hits in nine innings of play.
Writer’s Prediction
The Seattle Mariners (-140) continue their streak and defeat the Phillies.
Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins (8:10 PM ET)

The Kansas City Royals swung some hot bats in a 12-6 trouncing of the Minnesota Twins yesterday. Heading into this series finale, the Royals are looking at an eighth-straight series win. Josh Willingham has been a key for the Royals at the plate. The former Twins batter has a homer, two doubles and five RBIs at the expense of his former team. The Royals are 20-5 since the All-Star Break.
On the other hand, the Minnesota Twins are set for a rough night starting rookie right-hander Trevor May (0-1, 12.46). In his last showing, May gave up four runs while walking seven in just two innings for a loss against the Oakland Athletics on August 9.

The Kansas City Royals (-150) have their way with Minnesota’s Trevor May.
