[sc:MLB240banner ]Michael Wacha (17-6, 3.15 ERA) has been nothing but phenomenal throughout this season. However, that hasn’t shown in over his previous four turns, during which he’s uncharacteristically surrendered a total of 15 earned runs through 20 innings of work. Fortunately though, he’s on track for a strong outing tonight as he owns an unblemished 3-0 record with a 1.93 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in six career games (five starts) opposite the Pirates.
Speaking of the Pirates, they’ll be handing the ball to Charlie Morton, who is 9-8 with a 4.58 ERA. He’s coming off a miserable start at Colorado on Wednesday, wherein he gave up six earned runs and 10 hits over 4 1/3 frames for the eventual 13-7 loss. Morton aims for win No. 10 this evening while carrying a 6-3 record with a 3.49 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 11 starts at home this season.
St. Louis is 4-3 in Wacha’s last seven starts. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, is 3-2 in its past five contests with Morton starting.

The Cardinals (-112) win, 4-2.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants (10:15 PM ET)
Line: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants– view all MLB lines
Clayton Kershaw (15-7, 2.25 ERA) remains to be one of elite pitchers in the majors right at this very moment. But like Wacha, he hasn’t been himself lately as well in his previous two turns, wherein he’s allowed six earned runs on 13 hits across 12 innings logged in. Kershaw will be striving to find his groove back tonight opposite the Giants. Throughout his career, he holds a 15-7 record with a 1.61 ERA, a .84 WHIP and .189 opponents’ batting average versus their division rivals.
As for the Giants, they’ll be countering with their own ace in Madison Bumgarner (18-8, 2.88 ERA). Bumgarner has pitched extremely well opposite the Dodgers this season, going 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA throughout four starts.
Los Angeles is 5-1 in Kershaw’s last six turns. San Francisco, on the other hand, is 7-3 in its previous 10 games with Bumgarner starting.
Writer’s Prediction
Bumgarner outpitches Kershaw to lead the Giants to a 7-3 win.
