We’re down to the last week of regular season baseball but the action is still on a high with some teams still in contention for postseason tickets. We briefly break down two games, which are expected to significant implications to the playoff races in both leagues.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays (7:07 PM ET)

The Orioles and the Blue Jays are looking to keep their spots inside the wild card sphere in the American League. Starting for Baltimore in Game 2 of this series is Ubaldo Jimenez, who is 7-12 with a 5.71 ERA. Jimenez pitched well in his last start, allowing zero runs and just four hits in 5.1 innings before the Orioles’ bullpen imploded in a 5-1 loss to Boston on September 21.
The Blue Jays will counter with Marcus Stroman (9-9, 4.34 ERA), who also had a terrific outing the last time he toed the slab. Stroman tossed seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over the Yankees on September 24.

Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants (10:40 PM ET)

The Giants are barely hanging on to the second and last wild card spot in the National League and tonight, they will look to create some breathing space when they send the streaking Johnny Cueto to the mound. Cueto is 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in four starts this month. In addition, he is 2-0 with a 0.77 ERA in three starts against Colorado thus far this year.
Over on other side, the Rockies will have righty Jon Gray working San Francisco’s bats. Gray was fantastic in his only start this season against San Francisco, tossing seven scoreless innings while striking out five in a 2-1 loss to the Giants on May 7.
