Butler Bulldogs vs. Marquette Golden Eagles (9:00 PM ET)
Line: Butler Bulldogs (+1.5) vs. Marquette Golden Eagles (-1.5) – view all NCAAB lines
Marquette is surely still harboring ill feelings about Butler. Both programs met last month in what turned out to be a come-from-behind win for the now-No. 22 Bulldogs, who had to rally back from an 18-point halftime deficit. The Golden Eagles should be more than ready and excited for this rematch after recently snapping a two-game slide with Saturday’s 92-79 victory over DePaul. They were led by redshirt junior Andrew Rowsey, who had 22 points off the bench.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, were handed their second loss in a row in last week’s game against Creighton. They struggled mightily on offense, shooting just 40 percent from and less than 30 percent from beyond the arc. They hope to regain their touch against a Marquette defense that given up 79 or more points in its last three games.
Writer’s Prediction
Marquette (-1.5) wins it, 81-76.
Orlando Magic vs. Houston Rockets (9:00 PM ET)
Line: Orlando Magic (+11) vs. Houston Rockets (-11); total: 223.0 – view all NBA lines
Orlando held James Harden to 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting in this season’s first meeting against the Rockets. Despite that defense effort, the Magic still lost as their offense couldn’t muster enough points to get the upset. This team only averages 99.6 points per game, including just 92.0 points in its last three. The Magic should see themselves dropping another one to Houston if their offense continues to stagger. But limiting Harden, the league’s assists leader, below his usual numbers remains the top priority for Orlando, which is 4-11 SU and 7-8 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Houston (-11) wins and covers.
