There’s a whole lotta lovin’ about to simultaneously go down in Minnesota this Tuesday night, as the state will host a couple of stunning matchups from the NBA and NHL alike. First off, the Timberwolves will try to fend off the mighty Cleveland Cavaliers at the Target Center. Over at the Xcel Energy Center, meanwhile, the Wild will look to continue their fantastic season with another visit from the Anaheim Ducks.
Let’s take a closer look at these two games below in order for you to place some stakes on the sporting action before spending the rest of your evening with some Valentine’s Day action in the bedroom.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (8:00 PM ET)
Line: Cleveland Cavaliers (-4) at Minnesota Timberwolves (+4); total: 218.5 – view all NBA lines
The loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder last Thursday was almost inevitable given how the Cavaliers were about to play their third road contest in four nights and their starters were bound to take more breathers than usual. It’s a good thing then that LeBron James and Co. were back in winning form right away by decimating the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, 125-109.
James and Kyrie Irving scored 27 points apiece in the victory, and the Cavs got even stronger that evening as well with the team debut of power forward Derrick Williams. The former first-round pick is set to face the team that drafted him into the league this Tuesday, and you can be certain that he’ll have a better showing than his seven-point, 21-minute effort against Denver.
And while the Wolves are fresh off a massive 117-89 win against the Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade-less Bulls on Sunday, they’re still losers of five of their last seven contests (SU/ATS). Not only that, but Minny has also lost five-straight meetings versus the Cavs to date (1-4 ATS).
Writer’s Prediction
Cleveland (-4) wins easily, 109-97.
Anaheim Ducks vs. Minnesota Wild (8:00 PM ET)
Line: Anaheim Ducks (+140) at Minnesota Wild (-160); total: 5.5 – view all NHL lines
Perhaps the Gopher State’s hockey team, not the Wolves, will be the ones to deliver a ‘W’ to the good folks from the Great Lakes. The Wild remain the overall leader in the West with 55 wins and 80 points, and Tuesday will give head coach Bruce Boudreau another great shot at his former team. So far, Boudreau’s gotten the better of the Ducks with his new squad, with Minnesota winning both of its two meetings against Anaheim this season.
That’s definitely not a good sign for the struggling Ducks, who have lost four of five contests during their current six-game road trip and are now five points behind the San Jose Sharks for the Pacific Division lead. They were recently outgunned by the Eastern Conference’s top team in the Washington Capitals last Saturday, 6-4, and must now face the best team from the West again. A second win to somehow salvage their tough road trip will be a rather tall order at that, as the Wild are winners of five of their last seven home games, which includes their 5-3 victory over the Ducks from January 21.
Writer’s Prediction
Boudreau and the Wild cockblock the Ducks from another win this Valentine’s Day, 3-2.
