Chicago Cubs vs. Cleveland Indians (7:00 PM ET)

Line: Chicago Cubs (-160) vs. Cleveland Indians (+145); total: 7.0 – view all MLB line

Pressure is on the side of the Cubs after they lost the World Series opener, 6-0. They’re hoping they’ll find their offense tonight as the team faces Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer. Bauer was last seen on the mound with his hand bleeding profusely back in Game 3 of the ALDS, throwing just two thirds of an inning in a 4-2 victory over Toronto on October 17. Bauer needs to be in his top form, as he’s set to duel with 2015 NL Cy Young Award winner, Jake Arrieta.

The Indians are 8-2 in Bauer’s last 10 home starts. Arrieta, on the other hand, has allowed six earned runs across 11.0 innings over his last two starts this postseason, while allowing opponents to hit .273 against him. The over is 4-2 in Arrieta’s last six starts.

Writer’s Prediction

Cleveland (+145) wins, 5-4.

Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers (10:30 PM ET)

Line: Houston Rockets (-6.5) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (+6.5); total: 223.5 – view all NBA lines

There’s no Kobe Bryant to lead the Lakers later tonight in their season opener. The Bryant-less Lakers will host the Rockets, who’ll be spearheaded by James Harden, who should flourish further under new head coach Mike D’Antoni. The Rockets were 3-0 SU against the Lakers last season, winning by an average margin of 19 points. The Lakers are hoping that their youngsters will be able to hold their own this season. Among them is D’Angelo Russell, who averaged 13.2 points per game during the 2015-16 campaign. The Lakers are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Houston (-6.5) wins, 120-105.
