Detroit Red Wings vs. Boston Bruins (8:00 PM ET)
Lines: Detroit Red Wings (+220) vs. Boston Bruins (-260); total: 5.5 – View all NHL odds here
Detroit’s not going to make the playoffs and has just traded key pieces at the trade deadline. That doesn’t mean the Red Wings will just bend over tonight against Boston, as they look to end a three-game skid. Red Wings are 1-1-1 in three meetings with the Bruins thus far this season with the lone win being a 6-5 shootout triumph back on Jan. 18. The Bruins, meanwhile, have lost two of their last three outings –lost 4-2 to Ottawa on Monday—but are 7-0 in their last seven home games against Detroit.
Writer’s Prediction: Boston (-260) wins, 4-2.
Ottawa Senators vs. Dallas Stars (8:00 PM ET)
Lines: Ottawa Senators (+110) vs. Dallas Stars (-130); total: 5.5 –View all NHL odds here
Ottawa hasn’t lost since acquiring Alex Burrows and Viktor Stalberg, going 3-0 after the trade deadline with Burrows scoring three goals already in Sens threads. That’s the kind of streak Dallas would like to thwart later tonight, as the Stars attempt to bag another big win after slaying a giant in Washington, 4-2, on Monday. Dallas needs to get it together on defense though, as it is 28th in the league with 3.2 goals allowed per game. On the flipside, Ottawa has scored nine goals in its last three games. Dallas beat the Sens on Feb.9, 3-2.
Writer’s Prediction: Dallas (-130) wins, 4-3.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Winnipeg Jets (8:00 PM ET)
Lines: Pittsburgh Penguins (-135) vs. Winnipeg Jets (+115); total: 6.5 –View all NHL odds here
The offense has been extra terrifying for the Penguins of late, having scored nine goals in back-to-back home wins against Tampa Bay and Buffalo. Hopefully for the Pens, that offensive onslaught continues tonight away from Pittsburgh as they pay Winnipeg a visit. The Penguins rank first in the league with 3.5 goals for per game but has scored just 10 goals in their last five road games in which they won just one game. Winnipeg is coming off a 3-2 loss to San Jose and looks to capitalize on the Pens’ road struggles. The Jets are eighth in the league with 3.0 GF/G. They lost a roadie to Pittsburgh on Feb. 16, 4-3.
Writer’s Prediction: Pittsburgh (-135) wins, 3-2.
