Betting on the Boston Celtics (+4.5)
Regular Season Record: 43-21
The Celtics are definitely among the top contenders to win the title this season. They are +1600 to take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy and came to Disney World with a roster that is at full strength. And the long pause this season should have rid the team of any lingering effects of a bad 2-4 stretch in their last six games. Kemba Walker is among the many weapons of Boston who poses a threat to Milwaukee. It could be remembered that Walker blasted the Bucks and thoroughly outplayed Eric Bledsoe in the Celtics’ 116-105 home win way back in October, as he scored 32 points and dished out six dimes. The tandem of Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward provides Boston great wing options who can greatly help in breaking down Milwaukee’s defense. Speaking of defense, the Celtics are second in the NBA with just 106.8 points allowed per game. They also limit opponents down to only 44.2 field goal percentage.
The Celtics are 5-3-2 against the spread in their last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Milwaukee Bucks (-4.5)
Regular Season Record: 53-12
The Bucks are another team hoping that the long rest can be some form of a blessing in disguise, as they were reeling just before the season got interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Milwaukee has lost all of its last three games, including one against a bad Phoenix Suns team on the road, 140-131. One thing to watch out for in Milwaukee heading into their meeting with Boston is the status of Bledsoe. The athletic point guard recently arrived in Orlando after getting cleared of COVID-19. However, it’s not yet clear whether he can play in the Boston game. If he can’t, then Milwaukee will likely distribute his minutes to the pair of George Hill and Donte DiVincenzo. In any case, the Bucks will revolve around Giannis Antetokounmpo, who’s averaged 27.0 points on 54.3 percent shooting from the field in two games thus far this season against Boston. The Bucks also have Khris Middleton. Antetokounmpo and Middleton combined for 55 points on 19-for-35 shooting from the floor in their 128-123 win at home over Boston last January.
The under is 8-2 in Milwaukee’s last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
Boston wins, 108-105.
