Game 1:

Starters: Nathan Eovaldi (5-4, 3.38 ERA) vs. Dylan Bundy (7-10, 4.38 ERA)

Pitching:

Eovaldi was fantastic in both of his first two starts with the Red Sox, as he held opponents scoreless in 15 innings with only a walk allowed with nine strikeouts over that stretch. He is 2-0 with a 0.43 ERA in three starts since the All-Star break, Bundy allowed just an earned run on seven hits with six batters fanned in a 3-1 road loss to Texas on August 4. He’s racked up a nice 2.29 ERA in three starts against Boston this season,

Hitting

  • Adam Jones is 4-for-15 against Eovaldi.
  • Andrew Benintendi is 8-for-23 against Bundy.

Prediction: Boston wins, 7-3.

Game 2:

Starters: David Price (11-6, 3.93 ERA) vs. Yefry Ramirez (1-4, 5.66 ERA)

Pitching:

The Red Sox have been rolling of late, particularly when Price is on the mound. They are 5-0 in the former Cy Young Award winner’s last five starts. Price is 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA in his last three starts, with opponents hitting just 2.13 against him since. Ramirez was shelled in his last start, giving up five earned runs on five hits with five walks issued in just 1.2 innings of duty, albeit in a 9-6 win in Texas on August 5. Ramirez is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances (four starts) at home this season.

Hitting

  • Danny Valencia is 15-for-25 vs. Price.
  • Mookie Betts is 2-for-5 vs. Ramirez.

Prediction: Boston wins, 6-3.

Game 3:

Starters: Chris Sale (1-5, 6.31 ERA) vs. Alex Cobb (3-14, 5.55 ERA)

Pitching:

Sale and his strikeout machine of an arm will take the mound again after a trip on the Disabled List. He is 6-1 with a 0.75 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 60 innings over his last nine starts. He has recorded double-digit strikeouts in seven of his last 10 starts. Cobb is not Sale, which is also partly why the Orioles are 2-10 in his last 10 starts. That said, he’s not allowed more than two earned runs in four his last five starts.

Hitting

  • Trey Mancini is 6-for-15 vs. Sale.
  • Mookie Betts is 9-for-24 vs. Cobb.

Prediction: Boston wins, 6-3.
