Betting on the New York Yankees

[sc:MLB240banner ]Jacoby Ellsbury did not take long to show the Red Sox what they’re missing on Tuesday evening. His two-run performance led his current team over his former one, along with the heroics of Masahiro Tanaka (2.15 ERA 3-0), who allowed only two runs on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Slated to start at pitcher in Wednesday’s game is Michael Pineda (1.00 ERA, 2-1). Of New York’s last seven games with Pineda pitching, six have gone under the total. Furthermore, the Yankees are 4-1 SU in their last five meetings with Boston.

The Yankees have been locking down their opponents’ scoring this season while securing the lead in the AL East. New York has held Boston to four runs or less in all but one of their games this season. Moreover, a Yankee opponent has scored more than three runs just twice in New York’s last seven games.

Betting on the Boston Red Sox

John Lackey (5.25 ERA, 2-2) has not gotten off to a good start this season, with one of his losses coming against the Yankees on April 12. However, the 35-year-old pitcher is 7-3 when facing the Yankees dating back to October 2010, with the latter three games going over the total.

Boston will have to figure out how get more from their offense, which currently ranks 20th in runs (76) and 23rd in batting average (.238) in the MLB.

Also, Mike Napoli and company cannot allow their rivals to get off to a quick start. In three of Boston’s four losses to New York this season, the latter has scored first.

Writer’s Prediction

The Yankees are playing better lately, and have a good sense of how to get to Lackey. And at +109, there is lots to like about this line. Take the Yankees to continue their winning ways against Boston this season.
