Betting on the Brooklyn Nets (42-40 Regular Season)

Despite solid efforts from three of its starts, Brooklyn failed to get a win in Game 4, falling yet again at home to the Sixers to the tune of a 112-108 score on Saturday. Jared Allen scored 1 points, D’Angelo Russell had 21, and Caris LeVert chipped in 25, but their collective ample offensive production got weighed down by Joe Harris’ silent night, especially from deep, and a defense that didn’t seem to have any idea how to stop Joel Embiid. Harris finished the game with 10 points on 4-for-14 shooting fro the field, including a 0-for-6 line from deep. Harris is the NBA’s top 3-point scorer, but didn’t make a single trey in the two games in Brooklyn in the series thus far. He’ll have to recover his lethal touch from beyond the arc to open up some space for the other Nets’ scorers. Hopefully for the Nets, big man Ed Davis will be able to give it a go on Tuesday after missing Game 4 due to an ankle issue. The Nets need all the depth they can have in the front court to slow down Embiid.

The Nets are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last three road games.

Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (51-31 Regular Season)

Embiid was doubtful ahead of Game 4 due to knee soreness, and the Nets sure wished the big man stayed out of the court. That didn’t turn out to be the case, obviously, as the Cameroonian behemoth dominated on both ends of the floor on Saturday, scoring 31 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, dishing out seven assists, and recording six blocks in 32 minutes of action. He became just the fifth player in 35 years to have that kind of stat line in the playoffs, and who’s to say he can’t do it again in Game 5 at home against Brooklyn’s seemingly overpowered frontline. Given his performance in the last game, there shouldn’t be much of a doubt that Embiid will play in what could be the Sixers’ series clincher. Philly don’t want Brooklyn to gain momentum, and what better way to snuff that idea up than let Embiid roll again. Embiid is averaging 25.3 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the floor on the series. Rebounding is also being dominated by Embiid and the Sixers, who had 13 more boards in Game 4 than Brooklyn.

The over is 6-1 in Philadelphia’s last seven home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Sixers eliminate Brooklyn with a 115-110 win.
