James Harden reminded everyone again that he is still a top-tier offensive force in the NBA by dropping 42 points, including numerous high-pressure buckets, in Game 4. He shot 16/23 from the field and also dished out nine assists. It’s been an up-and-down ride so far for Harden in this series, but Philly will not take away the ball from his hands – not from Joel Embiid, who helped Harden last Sunday with 34 points and 13 rebounds. Embiid, however, has to be more aggressive. He is the reigning MVP after all. So far in the series, Embiid is averaging 26.3 points but is draining only 44.4 percent of his shots.
The Sixers are 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 games versus a team with a winning record. They are also 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games after a victory.
Betting on the Boston Celtics (-7.0)
Regular Season Record: 57-25
Boston forced overtime in Game 4 after trailing big, but failed to get the job done and complete the comeback. The good news for the Celtics is that they are going back home for Game 5. Over their last 16 games at TD Garden against the Sixers, the Celtics have beaten the spread 11 times. In addition to that, Boston is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games after just a day of rest. Jaylen Brown hinted about looking to be more aggressive on offense in the next game after he only took a total of three shots in the fourth quarter and overtime of Game 4. He still finished with 23 points on 10/16 shooting, while Jayson Tatum paved the team with 24 points.
The Over is 7-1 in the Celtics’ last eight games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Sixers win, 123-120.
