Betting on Calgary Stampeders (2-1-0)
After starting the season on a bad note, losing to the Ottawa Redblacks in Week 1,the Stampeders appeared to have gotten their groove. Following a Week 2 bye, they scored consecutive victories over the BC Lions at home, 36-32, and against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on the road, 37-10.Quarterback Nick Arbuckle went 19-for-22 and finished with a pair of touchdowns and zero interceptions. It was the type of efficient offensive game Calgary will be needing from Arbuckle against Hamilton, though, he’s going to need more support from team’s run game, as the Tiger-Cats have the second-best pass defense in the league. The good news for Calgary is that Hamilton is the worst team in the CFL against the run, allowing 143.8 rushing yards per game. Terry Williams leads Calgary with 67 rushing yards, while Ka’Deem Carey has 63 rushing yards and a touchdown on the season.
Calgary is 2-0 in its last two road games.
Betting on Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-1-0)
The Tiger-Cats got tripped up by the Montreal Alouettes in Week 4, suffering their first defeat of the season to the tune of a 36-29 score. After going berserk offensively in their previous two games, during which they scored a total of 105 points to just 24 by their opponents, the Tiger-Cats were finally contained by Montreal. Still, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli was still able to finish the game with 401 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 29-of-44 completions. Masoli tops the league with 1,325 passing yards on the season. He is the driver of Hamilton’s offense that ranks second in the CFL with 351.3 passing yards per contest. Still, the Tiger-Cats need more from their ground attack. Hamilton only had 58 rushing yards in their loss to Montreal, which burned rubber for 264 yards on the ground.
Hamilton is 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last three home games.
