Betting on the Carolina Panthers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 3-0
Now it gets harder for the Panthers. Although the Panthers are 3-0 to start the season, they will be without their best offensive weapon for a few weeks after running back Christian McCaffrey suffered a hamstring injury in their 24-9 road win over the Houston Texans in Week 2 that will sideline him for some time. They also saw cornerback Jaycee Horn go down with a foot injury. Still, Carolina seems deep enough to handle games without the two. The Panthers will turn to rookie Chuba Hubbard while CMC is out, while their defense seems very much capable of surviving without Horn. Carolina is second in the NFL thus far this season in scoring defense with just 10.0 points allowed per game and tops in scoring defense with only 191.0 total yards surrendered per contest.
The Panthers have been automatic against the road over their past several games away from home. In fact, they are 8-0 against the spread in their last eight road games.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (odds)
Regular Season Record: 2-1
The Cowboys rodeoed their way to a 41-21 home win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night to cap off Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season. Dak Prescott went 21/26 for 238 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions, while Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard rushed for 95 and 60 yards, respectively. Dallas’ offense has been deadly despite injuries on the unit. Michael Gallup is still out and Amari Copper did not look right in the Eagles game, but the ground attack, tight end Dalton Schultz and wideout CeeCee Lamb all stepped up. Carolina has impressed defensively this season, but it has yet to face an offense as loaded as the Cowboys. On defense, Dallas also showed it can be a threat to anybody by crippling Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’; offense, limiting Philadelphia down to only 12 first downs.
The Cowboys are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys win, 27-23.
