The Miami Dolphins are among the hottest teams right now in the NFL. Will they be able to extend their win streak when they take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers? Or will the Panthers eke out a victory in South Beach? Check out our preview of this game below.
Cam Newton continues the search for his first win as a starter since returning to Carolina after the Panthers suffered a 27-21 home loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 11. That being said, Newton played well in that game. He looked so fit as the starter of the Panthers, who are scoring 20.5 points per game this season but have put up 57 points in the two games since coming back to Carolina. Newton passed for 189 yards and two touchdowns on a near-flawless 21/27 completions. He also rushed for a touchdown and 46 yards on 10 carries. Newton is still dynamic and together with running back Christian McCaffrey, the duo should be a problem for Miami. It’s the Panthers’ defense that needs to improve after failing to contain Taylor Heinicke, but the Dolphins might not have the kind of offense to expose Carolina’s shortcomings.

How about the Dolphins? Miami has stitched together three wins in a row, and while two of those victories were against lowly teams in the Houston Texans and the New York Jets, sandwiched in between those wins was the Dolphins’ surprising 22-10 thumping of the Baltimore Raven at home in Week 10. In their last game, the Fins beat the Jets on the road, 24-17, in Week 11. The story right now for the Dolphins is that they are streaking, and sometimes, that’s all one needs to know about a team, regardless of how it used to play before getting hot. The Dolphins’ defense has definitely stepped up, having allowed just 12 points on average in their last three contests. Can Miami slow down Newton and CMC? Let’s just say that Lamar Jackson was not able to take off against this Dolphins defense in the aforementioned win by the Fins over Baltimore.
