The tailspin continues for the Houston Texans, who dropped to 1-8-1 after yet another loss in Week 11. They will look to stop the bleeding (again) this coming Sunday on the road versus the well-rested Miami Dolphins, who spent Week 12 relaxing thanks to a bye. Will the Texans earn their second W of the season with an upset down in Florida? Or will the Dolphins just add to the woes of Houston this season? The Texans suffered a 23-10 home loss to the surging Washington Commanders Sunday. Davis Mills was underwhelming, passing for just 169 yards with zero touchdowns and a pair of interceptions on 19/33 completions. He was also sacked five times for a loss of 42 yards. There’s only so much Houston can expect of Mills, but at least the Texans still have the talented Dameon Pierce. While Pierce rushed for only eight yards on 10 carries versus Washington, that shouldn’t take away from his bright future in the league. Houston is also a sneaky play against the spread, as it is a not-so-bad 4-5-1 against the spread this season, so far.
The Texans are also 4-5-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games dating back to last year.
Miami is coming in fresh for this game and with a ton of momentum. The Dolphins are on a four-game win streak. Before they entered their Week 11 bye, the Dolphins eked out a 39-17 home win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 10. The Dolphins have now scored at least 31 points in each of their last three games. Their offense is humming, as they are averaging 25.2 points per game, already good for seventh in the NFL entering Week 11. Defensively, Miami has some work to do, but the Dolphins’ stop unit likely won’t sweat handling Houston’s attack that is constantly tripping itself up.
