The NFC South is whirlwind as of late. Both the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are desperate to stake their claim at the top spot in the division as they meet in Week 8. Both squads are coming off tough losses on the road, with the Panthers losing to the Chicago Bears (17-3) and the Buccaneers losing in a close one against the Bills (30-27). Betting on the Carolina Panthers (4-3)
The Carolina Panthers have been one of the most inconsistent teams this year, and also one of the
hardest team to predict week in and week out, about what they will do. They have had wins over the likes of the Lions and the Patriots, but then in their last two games they have lost to the Eagles, and then embarrassed by the Bears.
Against the Bears the defense actually played really well, but the Panthers kept turning the ball over, and two of those were returned for touchdowns by the Bears and that led to a 17-3 defeat. In the game Cam Newton threw for 211 yards and two interceptions. He looked off in the game, and didn’t seem to have a lot of confidence in any of his guys.
To win this game it needs to start with the defensive side of the ball. The Buccaneers will turn the ball over if you pressure them. They need to try and give the offense a really short field to work with, and then hopefully they can have more success then they did against the Bears.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4)
On the other side of this match up is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are in desperate need of a win in this game, or their season might be all but over. After winning two of the first three games of the season, they come into this one having lost three games in a row against the Patriots Cardinals and in the last game the Bills.
It took awhile to get settled in against the Bills but in the second half they looked a lot better, but the Bills hit a late field goal to win the game. One thing to watch in this game is how Jameis looks going into it. He is dealing with a shoulder injury, and although he played against the Bills I would think the Injury is still bothering him.
For the Buccaneers to have any chance to win this game not only is Winston going to have to play, they are going to need a really good game out of him. If he struggles or starts to turn the ball over, it’s going to be a long afternoon, and it will spell the end of the season for the Buccaneers and their playoff hopes
Writer’s Prediction:
I think Winston is going to really struggle in this game and that will be the difference. The Panthers defense is going to take advantage and give their offense a short field. The Panthers will flex their muscles and win this game with ease.. Pick: Carolina Panthers (+2)
