Betting on Chile (-725)
Chile has some bad taste to wipe off their mouths. La Roja played great against Argentina in the opener on Tuesday, but ended up losing 2-1 no thanks to their miscues on the defensive end. They will look to rectify their mistakes and play much better all-around game when they take on a vast underdog in Bolivia.
Having Bolivia as their next opponent couldn’t have come at a better time for Chile. For one, they’ve dominated Bolivia for a long time now with seven wins and three draws in the last 11 matchups with La Verde. Chile don’t seem to have glaring problem scoring goals, as they’ve scored in four of their last five matches. Where La Roja has to put up a better performance is on defense, which has grown susceptible to counterattacks under new coach Juan Antonio Pizzi.Claudio Bravo, who conceded two goals against Argentina, is expected to come in to tonight’s match in a much stronger form. Forward Alexis Sanchez meanwhile is looking to carve up Bolivia’s defense that has allowed eight goals in the team’s past three matches.
Betting on Bolivia (+1,050)
As what their +1,050 odds to win the match suggest, La Verde have a tough task ahead of them when they do battle with huge favorite Chile. Don’t expect Bolivia to just bend over and hand Chile an easy three points though.
Similar to Chile, La Verde are coming off a 2-1 loss to Panama on Monday. Although they’re not expected to be competitive against Chile, Bolivia might still be able to exploit cracks on the Chilean defense. Chile has been susceptible to opponents; counterattacks with the team putting much focus on being aggressive.
Man to watch for Bolivia is Juan Carlos Arce, who scored the team’s lone goal in the Panama game. Running alongside Arce is New York Cosmos forward Yasmani Duk.
