Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (2-0)

For the first time since 2015, Andy Dalton and the Bengals are 2-0 to start a season after Cincy beat the Baltimore Ravens at home on Sunday, 34-23. Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green played like they are out to prove that they are still relevant. Dalton went 24 of 42 for 265 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions, while Green caught five passes for 65 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, wideout Tyler Boyd had some sort of a breakout game against Baltimore, as he paced the Bengals with 91 receiving yards and a touchdown on six receptions. The Bengals’ passing attack will likely have a heavier workload against Carolina, as running back Joe Mixon is out for a number of weeks with a knee injury. Giovanni Bernard, who rushed six times for 27 yards against the Ravens will serve as the lead backfield option for Cincy for the meantime.

The Bengals are 4-1 in their last five road games.

Betting on the Carolina Panthers (1-1)

After containing the Dallas Cowboys’ offense in a 16-8 win to open the season, the Panthers had their defense exposed by the Atlanta Falcons the following week, particularly on the ground, in a 31-24 road loss. Even though the Falcons were missing injured starting running back Devonta Freeman, they still rushed the ball for 170 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns – both by quarterback Matt Ryan. The Panthers could be a bit lucky that the Bengals will not have Mixon next week, but Bernard is still capable of having a great game when given enough touches, which he’ll definitely get. However, Cam Newton, who passed for 335 yards and three touchdowns against Atlanta, can have another solid performance against Cincy’s 30th ranked pass defense that is allowing 332.0 passing yards per game this season.

The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.

Writer’s Prediction
