Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (-2)
The Cincinnati Bengals returned to winning ways Thursday with a convincing 22-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins. It was a morale-boosting win for the Bengals, who finally snapped their three-game losing streak against the Dolphins. They will look to sustain the momentum of that huge victory when they take on the Dallas Cowboys in a mouth-watering showdown this coming Sunday.
Expected to lead the Bengals in that critical matchup is wide receiver A.J. Green. He caught 10 passes for 173 yards and a score in the win against the Dolphins. To further illustrate his dominance in that contest, Green outperformed the entire Miami offense in the game’s opening three quarters. He had 166 yards on catches while the Dolphins only had 152 total yards during that span. Green is averaging a whopping 117.0 receiving yards per game this season, third-best in the NFL. He will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a Dallas secondary that’s allowing 263.5 passing yards per game this campaign, 19th in the NFL.
The Bengals are 7-3 SU and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (+2)
Dallas stretched its unbeaten run to three games with an impressive 24-17 victory over San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. It was an incredible win for the Cowboys, who rallied from an early 14-point deficit. With the victory, the Cowboys are now 3-1 for the first time since the 2014 season. Leading the way for the Cowboys in this comeback win was Ezekiel Elliott. He ran for 138 yards and a touchdown as he continued his excellent start to his NFL career.
With Elliott wreaking havoc on the ground, that opened things up for quarterback Dak Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys’ aerial attack. Brice Butler stepped up big time in the absence of Dez Bryant who’s out with a hairline fracture in his right knee, nabbing five catches for 41 yards and a score. The Cowboys will need that same kind of offensive balance for them to extend their winning streak against the Bengals.
The Cowboys are third in the NFL in total offense, averaging 395.8 yards per game this season. Providing the much-needed stability in that offensive unit is the rookie Prescott. He has yet to throw an interception over his first four games for Dallas. He completed 23-of-32 passes for 245 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win against the 49ers. Prescott will have his work cut out for him, however, against a Cincinnati side that is ninth in the NFL in total defense, conceding just 322.8 yards per game this campaign. That defensive unit got a whole lot better as well with the return of linebacker Vontaze Burfict. He knocked down a pass and had three tackles in the win against Miami.
The Cowboys are 2-8 SU and 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys (+2) edge past the Bengals, 28-21.
