Cincy fans ought to be happy about seeing their squad end up with a 27-27 tie against the Redskins in London. It was an ugly game for the Bengals, who were outgained by a wide margin, 546-415. But thanks to a few solid individual performances, some luck and costly Washington errors, they managed to escape with a tie in a game that they didn’t deserve to win.
QB Andy Dalton completed 27 of his 42 passes, finishing with 284 yards and a touchdown throw to Tyler Eifert, who tallied nine catches for 102 yards after a silent outing in his return to action in Week 8. A.J. Green, meanwhile, collected 121 yards on the same number of receptions, which marked his fourth 100-yard game of the season.
With Eifert and Green lurking around downfield all the time, Dalton has a pair of reliable deep threats that can leave opposing cornerbacks and safeties scratching their heads.
Cincinnati’s front seven, however, has underwhelmed. The team’s allowing nearly 120 rushing yards per contest, including 280 yards combined in the last two games. It’s a good thing that their next opponent—the Giants—don’t really run with the ball that much, averaging a league-low 68.2 yards on the ground.
The Bengals are 1-4 SU and 1-3-1 ATS in its previous five road games.
Eli Manning made Philadelphia’s secondary look invisible for the most part on Sunday, throwing for 257 yards with four touchdowns to give the Giants their third-consecutive win (3-0 ATS).
New York’s pass-heavy attack was on target all game long, collecting 248 yards in total and had three different receivers score. Odell Beckham Jr. caught two TD passes from Manning, while the pair of Sterling Shepard and Roger Lewis had one each.
OBJ, though, was held below to 50 yards receiving on four catches. That inefficiency was probably due to his health, as he was dealing with an ailing hip prior to the game. He should be able to move around a little more freely versus a Cincy defense that gave up 446 passing yards to the Redskins two weeks ago in London.
Also, it’ll be a good time for Rashad Jennings and Paul Perkins to start cooking on the ground, an area where the Giants have found almost zero success. The Bengals are allowing 116.1 rushing yards per game, the 12th-most in the NFL.
