The Clemson Tigers remain undefeated after crushing the Boston College Eagles last Saturday, 31-3 on the road. The Tigers have looked dominant for the most part of the season, and they will look to score yet another victory in ACC play when they face off with the struggling Florida State Seminoles. The Noles have lost both their last two outings, first to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at home on Oct. 1 (31-21) and second to the NC State Wolfpack on Oct. 8 on the road (19-17). Clemson’s defense took the air out of the Eagles’ fight in Week 6. Boston College was only able to go just 5/18 on third downs. The Tigers also held Boston College to only 34 rushing yards. Clemson’s stop unit hasn’t been as stout this season as it had been in previous years, but it is formidable still. The Tigers walked into Week 6 with just 19.6 points allowed per game and only 309.6 total yards surrendered per contest. In any case, the Tigers’ attack led by DJ Uiagalelei poses a huge threat to Florida State.
Clemson, which has not scored fewer than 30 points in a game so far this season, is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 outings overall.
Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (+4.5)
Record: 4-2 Overall / 2-2 Conference
The Seminoles can only rue their loss to NC State. Florida State had a 17-3 lead at the half of that game but went scoreless the rest of the way while also failing to stop the Wolfpack from piling up points in the second half. Nevertheless, Florida State managed to still look competitive against a ranked opponent for the second game in a row, and that bodes well for their chances to at least cover the spread versus the visiting Clemson squad.
Speaking of which, Florida State has covered the spread in all but three of their last 10 games overall.
