The Clemson Tigers made sure they’ll keep the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll rankings for at least another week, as they scored their fourth win of the season. Now, they will take the road for a trip to Chapel Hill, not to watch basketball, but to face off with the North Carolina Tar Heels, who are just coming off a bad loss.

Betting on the Clemson Tigers (4-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference)
The Tigers bulldozed the Charlotte 49ers at home last week, waltzing into a 52-10 victory – Clemson’s fourth of the season. The Tigers’ defense just keeps on getting better regardless of the quality of their opponent each week. They started Week 4 fifth-best in the nation with just 10.0 points allowed per game. Clemson has been brutal against opposing offenses, choking opponents’ attacks and limiting them below 260 total yards per contest. The Tigers are great in turning their aggressiveness on defense into extra possessions, as they ranked 24th in the NCAA with 2.3 takeaways per game heading into the matchup with Charlotte. On the other side of the ball, quarterback Trevor Lawrence should be able to shine easily against a Tar Heels’ defense that will have to worry also about Clemson’s ground game. The Tigers are rushing for over 250 yards ahead of Week 4.
The Tigers are 5-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last five road games.
Betting on the North Carolina Tar Heels (2-2 Overall/1-0 Conference)
The Tar Heels opened the season with back-to-back wins over the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Miami Hurricanes, but whatever momentum they got from those victories is completely gone, having lost their next two games to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and to the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Against the Mountaineers last Saturday, the Tar Heels had a chance to send the game into overtime, but a 56-yard field-goal attempt was blocked by Appalachian State. North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell had a shaky day under center, passing for 323 yards with three touchdowns, but he also had a pair of interceptions and a line of 27 of 41 completions. He was also sacked three times. Howell’s protection will have to patch up its own holes in time for the Clemson team. The Tigers have one of the best pass-rushing units in the nation. In any case, the Tar Heels will rely on their run game. They entered Week 4 with an average of 160 rushing yards per game.
The over is 2-0 in the Tar Heels’ last two home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson claims their fifth win of the season, with a final score of 42-13.
