Betting on the Cleveland Browns (+10)

Robert Griffin III’s return couldn’t stop Cleveland from falling closer to the depths of mediocrity, as the Browns just became the eighth team in the NFL to start 0-13 (2-11 ATS) after Sunday’s loss to Cincinnati.

The only highlight for the Browns came in the third quarter, wherein RG3 squeaked in a 1-yard touchdown run to finally give his team its first points of the game. They now have three games left to punch win No. 1 and avoid joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as the league’s only 0-16 teams.

Cleveland is facing off with Buffalo on the road this weekend. In whatever way you look at this matchup, it’s hard to see the Browns winning here, but there should be the tiniest hope of an upset if they can get something going on the ground.

RB Isaiah Crowell, who, despite being touchdown-less, ran for his third 100-yard game of the season with 113 on 10 carries versus Cincy. He’s up against a Bills defense that was embarrassingly raped by Le’Veon Bell during Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh.

Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-10)

Buffalo’s run defense was invisible yet again on Sunday, essentially allowing the Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell to amass a record-breaking 236 yards rushing along with three scores. QB Tyrod Taylor also couldn’t provide enough on offense to compensate for his team’s defensive deficiencies, throwing for 228 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Taylor now has one pick each in four of the last five games, a stretch in which the Bills have gone 2-3 SU and 1-3-1 ATS.  He can, and must, make up for this in a very, very favorable home matchup with the winless Browns.

Cleveland ranks second-worst in the league in total defense (400.0) and points allowed (28.8) this season. That should be more than enough reasons for Taylor get himself and Buffalo’s offense, which collected just 275 offensive yards versus Pittsburgh, going.

Writer’s Prediction

Buffalo (-10) wins this one easily, 27-13.
