The Guardians are eyeing to continue their win streak after closing out the first half of the regular season with three wins in a row during a sweep of the Detroit Tigers at home. On the mound for Cleveland this Friday is Cal Quantrill, who owns a 6-5 record with a 3.75 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. The Guardians are actually 2-0 in his last two starts, and that includes their 8-4 victory over the White Sox back on July 11 at home when Quantrill went six innings long and gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hots with 3 strikeouts. Quantrill steps on the hill for this game with the hope that Cleveland’s offense comes through again. Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez are expected to step up anew for Cleveland’s offese, as they are hitting .288 and .296 this season, respectively, while combining for 29 home runs and 118 RBIs.
The White Sox are just three games behind in the American League Central division, so they are still very hopeful they could catch the Minnesota Twins and surpass the Guardians in the group. Their offense has been sort of up and down this season, but they arrived at the 2022 MLB All-Star break ranked third in batting average (.257) and 15th in runs per game (4.41 ). While it’s currently unknown who the White Sox’s starter for this game will be, Chicago is 18th in the majors with a starters’ ERA of 4.07 and also owns a .297BABIP.
