Toeing the rubber for the Colorado Rockies is Jon Gray (4-3, 4.55 ERA). He’s been pitching solidly as of late, surrendering just two earned runs or fewer in his previous five starts. That stretch includes a resounding 10-3 victory against the Padres on June 5, during which the 24-year-old righty logged in seven innings of two-run ball and added a career-high of 12 strikeouts.

Gray, however, has had his struggles on the road this season, going 2-3 with a high ERA of 4.17. That being the case, the Rockies, who are priced at +2,000 to win the NL West division championship, better produce some timely runs at the plate.

Look to the tandem of DJ LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado to lead the charge in doing so. The two are batting .324 and .295, respectively, this year. But Arenado, in particular, is currently holding a hotter bat as he’s 7-of-17 with three runs batted in, a double and one homer in his last four outings.

Colorado is 5-5 SU in its past 10 road games.

Betting on the New York Yankees (34-36)

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees will be pinning their hopes on CC Sabathia (5-4, 2.20 ERA) to help them get back on track today against the Rockies. That could just be the case, as he boasts a 0.83 ERA in his last seven starts. The big veteran lefty is also 1-2 with a quality 2.31 ERA through four home starts this season.

Sabathia, though, barely has any moments worth boasting about against Colorado. He is only 2-1 with a 5.51 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP and a .282 opponents’ batting average across seven career starts in the said matchup. Just looking at those statistics, the Yankees better be ready to support him with some much-needed runs at the plate.

Carlos Beltran should be able to do just that. He currently leads the team in batting (.286), home runs (18), RBIs (48) and hits (70). The 39-year-old right fielder also has a career triple-slash line of .333/.429/.333 versus the Rocks.

The Pinstripers are 5-5 SU in its last 10 games with Sabathia starting. They are also pegged at +1,200 to win the AL East title.

Writer’s Prediction
