Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (-7.0)

Regular Season Record: 12-4

After beating the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16, the Cowboys took down the Tennessee Titans on the road in Week 17, 27-13. Dak Prescott was not at his best in the Titans game, as he had a poor start, but was mostly steady the rest of the way following a forgettable first period. He finished with 282 passing yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. Pro Bowl running back Tony Pollard missed the Titans game but is expected to return to face the Commanders, whom Dallas beat in Week 4 at home, 25-10.

The Cowboys, second in the NFL with 28.8 points per game and sixth with just 19.8 points allowed per outing, are 10-3-1 against the spread in their last 14 contests versus a team with a losing record.

Betting on the Washington Commanders (+7.0)

Regular Season Record: 7-8-1

Washington will finish last in the NFC East division no matter what happens in Week 18, but the Commanders of course would at least rather score a win before heading into an early vacation. The Commanders will go with a rookie as their starting quarterback against the Cowboys in the form of rookie Sam Howell. He has yet to see action this season, but Howell could be the future of Washington. The fifth-round quarterback passed for 10,283 yards and 92 touchdowns with 23 interceptions in three years with the North Carolina Tar Heels before making the jump to the pros. The Commanders have nothing to lose in this game, so they’ll play loose with no pressure at all. That could mean danger for the Cowboys.

The Under is 5-1 in the Commanders’ last 6 games in January.

Bet on the Washington Football Team

Writer’s Prediction

The Cowboys win, 30-14.
