Betting on the Dallas Mavericks (41-38)
The Dallas Mavericks extended their winning streak to a season-high six games with a gritty 103-93 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. Five players scored in double-figures for the Mavs who moved three games clear of ninth-place Houston in the Western Conference with three games left to play.
Key to the Mavs’ late-season charge has been their excellent play on the defensive end. The Mavs are allowing an average of just 87.2 points over their last six games. That’s way below their season average of 102.9 points allowed per contest. The Mavs have now held five of their last six opponents to under 90 points. That impregnable defense was in full display Friday against the Grizzlies where they held Memphis to just 40.2 percent shooting from the floor. The victory against Memphis came at a huge cost, though, for Dallas with J.J. Barea suffering a groin injury midway in the first quarter. He averaged 24.2 points for the Mavericks over his previous five games. Barea’s injury is a huge blow for the playoff-seeking Mavs who are already missing the services of Chandler Parsons (knee) and Deron Williams (sports hernia).
With Barea questionable for today’s game, the onus is on Raymond Felton to step up his play against the Clippers. The veteran guard finished with 11 points and had a season-high 14 assists in the game against the Grizzlies.
The Mavericks are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games.

Betting on the Los Angeles Clippers (51-28)
The Los Angeles Clippers stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a thrilling 102-99 victory over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. Five players scored in double-figures for the streaking Clips who have now won eight of their last nine outings.
Starring for the Clippers in this narrow victory was Jamal Crawford. He scored a game-high 30 points against the Jazz, including the match-winning 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left in overtime. He’s expected to once again play a crucial role against the Mavericks today with Doc Rivers set to rest his key players for the second game running.
Apart from Crawford, the Clippers will also need Cole Aldrich and Paul Pierce to continue their stellar play today. Aldrich had season highs of 21 points and 18 rebounds while adding a career-high five steals against the Jazz. Pierce, on the other hand, scored 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. The veteran is 11-of-20 from the floor in two games since returning from a knee injury.
The Clippers are 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Clippers edge past the Mavs, 99-95.
