The New York Jets (+5,000 to win the AFC East) are having some growing pains with a rookie quarterback directing their offense this season, but they will have to live with it, as they prepare for a testy meeting with the Denver Broncos. The Jets and the Broncos are each looking to recover from their respective losses in Week 4, but only one can make a return in the win column this weekend.

Betting on the Denver Broncos (2-2)
After getting torched by a young quarterback in their 27-23 home loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, the Broncos will look to avoid getting victimized by another young gunslinger in Week 5. The Broncos can’t underestimate any opponent, but they must be more optimistic that they could handle Jets quarterback Sam Darnold than Mahomes. Darnold is still learning the ropes in the pros and is still highly prone to committing turnovers. Expect Denver to pressure Darnold all game long in the pocket, while taking advantage of the seemingly loose Jets’ offensive line. The Broncos have 10.0 sacks on the season with veteran Von Miller leading the team with four sacks. Rookie linebacker Bradley Chubb, meanwhile, has 1.5 quarterback takedowns so far this season.
The under is 3-0 in the Broncos’ last three road games.
Betting on the New York Jets (1-3)
The Jets’ losing skid continues after they failed to notch their first win since Week 1 when they absorbed a 31-12 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday. As mentioned earlier, Darnold was limited in the pocket, though, he did not make any errors, passing for 167 yards and a touchdown on 17-of-34 completions. The offensive line of New York needs to be sturdier. Against the Jags, the Jets allowed three sacks for a loss of 23 yards. But it’s the defense that the Jets should be putting most of their focus on, especially after letting Blake Bortles and the Jags dump 503 total yards on them. The Jets are 13th this season with 22.2 points allowed per game. They are also 13th in total defense with 355.5 total yards surrendered per contest.
The Jets are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Denver wins, 26-20.
