Denver Broncos vs San Diego Chargers Week 6 Thursday Night Football Odds Update

Thursday Night Football Odds – Denver Broncos vs San Diego Chargers – Color Rush, Mike McCoy, Trevor Siemian, and Joey Bosa update

Denver Broncos (-3) vs San Diego Chargers (+3)

The Denver Broncos take their 4-1 record to San Diego to take on their 1-4 divisional rivals. Truth be told, the Chargers could very well be 5-0 if luck had gone their way to start the season. Through the first quarter of year though, the team has given up leads and found almost every possible way to lose including last week’s embarrassing fumbled field goal attempt in the dying minutes. The San Diego Chargers desperately need a win here OR they could find themselves battling out in a race for the top pick in the league at next year’s draft. However, if that’s the route they’re going, it likely means they’re going to have to lose out because the Browns will be hard to beat for that number one overall.

Color Rush Update

The good news for the Chargers is that while they may not look great on the scoreboard or in the standings, they’ll look pretty sharp on Thursday night. They’ve got a nice 70’s/80’s throwback look coming while the Broncos will be tossing it back to the Elway days with the horse on the bucket and the bright orange on the sleeves. Finally the NFL did something right. #ColorRush here we come!

Mike McCoy Firing Odds (+175)

The San Diego Chargers have gotten off to yet another horrific start. It’s gotten so bad that talks of selling off Phillip Rivers to save his career seem to be emerging daily. That is thanks in large part to head coach Mike McCoy who has a total of two playoff games under his belt since arriving in SD three years ago with general manager Tom Telesco. Throughout that time he’s tallied a 23-30 record at the helm and his future is looking bleak.

Now Telesco, mind you, has brought in quite a bit of talent over the years and signed a long-term contract last summer. Also, to his credit, it’s looking like DE Joey Bosa could be well worth the wait. Will it be enough to save McCoy’s job though? Well, that’s a total toss up. A win tonight would go a long way. A loss, however, could spell the end for McCoy in San Diego.

Trevor Siemian Returns at Quarterback (+1,000)

While Siemian’s return doesn’t guarantee a win, the Chargers defense is among the worst in the NFL, surrendering an average of 27.8 points per game. Meanwhile, with number 13 under center the Broncos have averaged 27.75 points and are a perfect 4-0. It doesn’t look like the near future will be bright in San Diego for the team or the coach with Siemian healthy. Not to mention, the young QB just a had a weak off to nurse a shoulder injury. He’s been back practicing all week though and all signs point to him being good to go for a Thursday Night return.

Joey Bosa’s Home Debut (+20,000)

Joey Bosa had an immediate impact in last week’s Oakland Raiders losing effort. He tallied four tackles and two sacks in his NFL debut. With very little to cheer for in San Diego, he could be the team’s sole hope for entertainment this season. Don’t get us wrong, watching the team find new ways to lose week in and week out is extremely entertaining. Watching their young rookie step right into the mix and dominate though would be a welcome sight.

It’d also be a huge marketing point for the franchise considering they’re still trying to lobby the city vote YES for a new downtown stadium valued at over $1 billion in November. Considering their team is 1-4 and can’t stop embarrassing themselves on national television, getting the votes could be a little easier said than done for the Spanos family.
