Betting on the Detroit Pistons (odds)
Regular Season Record: 16-36
The Pistons got an excellent performance from Cory Joseph as they defeated the Sacramento Kings on the road last Thursday, 113-101. That was a nice way for Detroit to recover from a 134-119 road loss to the Denver Nuggets on the road on Tuesday. Joseph scored 24 points while dishing out 7 assists in 32 minutes as the Pistons’ starting point guard. Joseph might have to continue seeing starter minutes with Killian Hayes out until further notice due to an injury. Hayes might be back in time for the game against the Portland Trail Blazers this Saturday, though. The Pistons need all hands on deck to take down the Clippers, so the hope for them is that Hayes and Jerami Grant will be ready to go on Monday. Grant has missed the last two games with a sore right knee.
The Pistons, who are averaging 107.6 points, are 2-1 against the spread in their last three road games versus the Clippers.
Betting on the LA Clippers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 36-18
The Clippers are on a roll. They extended their win streak to four games after defeating the Houston Rockets at home last Friday, 126-109. Paul George sat out that game for rest purposes, so he should be back on the floor when the Clippers take on the Pistons. However, it’s also possible that he continues to rest, as the Pistons are not that big of a threat for the Clippers. If that would be the case, Reggie Jackson could have another big outing. Jackson scored 26 points with 7 assists and 4 rebounds and 2 steals in 30 minutes against the Rockets. Kawhi Leonard, meanwhile, had 31 points and 8 assists. As long as the Clippers have one of George and Leonard, they should be fine against a poor Pistons team that’s also banged up. The Clippers are both sixth in the league in scoring offense and scoring defense.
The Clippers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Clippers win, 121-110.
