Another exciting (ain’t it weird?) night of the NBA 2K Players Tournament concluded on Thursday as the Tuesday quarterfinals were rescheduled without explanation. After taking Good Friday off our NBA stars turned couch-potatoes meet in the semifinals this Saturday. First up, is the Devin Booker vs Montrezl Harrell matchup. Booker is living up to his status as the early favorite to win the tournament while Harrell is exceeding all expectations. Who will make it through to the finals and have a shot at bragging rights and a cool $100,000 for charity? Let’s find out.

No.5 seed Denvin Booker disappointed the growing hoard of Rui Hachimura fans in a lopsided quarterfinals affair. The Phoenix Sun chose to play with the Dallas Mavericks, showing that he can win with pretty much any virtual team. Well, aside from his own. Hachimura meanwhile opted for the LA Clippers but his choice did not suit his style of play all that well. To be fair, the game started off neck-and-neck, but Booker soon took a stranglehold and marched his way through to a big 71-55 win. Booker’s overall rating at NBA 2K20 maintains at 86 as of Week 25 – will he play his own avatar against the underdog Harrell? This will be his best shot to do so because Beverly (assuming a win over Ayton) will be gunning for him for the finals.
Devin Booker started the tournament as the favorite to win it all, priced at +300 but his odds slipped down to +350 as Trae Young became the Vegas poster boy. With Young out, Booker has regained his status at the odds on favorite to win the first NBA 2K Players Tournament, but first he must get through Montrezl Harrell.

No.8 seed Montrezl Harrell wasn’t a long shot coming into the tournament, but he was definitely one of the sleepers, and one that so far has proven to be a solid pick. Harrell brings mind games into his tournament play, threatening to play with the Bucks (a popular choice) against Derrick Jones Jr in the quarterfinals. Jones reacted and changed his initial team pick from the 76ers to the Mavs, only to witness Harrell switch it up to take the Trail Blazers. That choice proved wise and gave Harrell the outside ammunition he needed to take and maintain a lead en route to a 71-66 win.
Harrell began the tournament listed at +2500 to win it all.

The Booker train continues as Harrell’s joyride has come to an end. Devin Booker wins with a final score of 88-71.
