Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (13-1)
The Duke Blue Devils (13-1, 1-1 ACC) held off Florida State at home this week, and are now headed to North Carolina State, before going on to Pittsburgh.
On the game against FS, Duke elevated from a four-point deficit at halftime to hand Florida State a 100-93 loss at home. Marvin Bagley was the key in this game, putting up 32 points and a whopping 21 rebounds. In fact, the Blue Devils outclassed Florida State on the glass by a total of 53-35.
But it’s not all roses for the Blue Devils, as they have a lot of work to do on the defensive end of the court. They are currently on the upper-half of the “points allowed” table when compared to the rest of the country (currently 190th). Not horrible, but not exactly conference championship material either.
Betting on the NC State WolfPack (9-4)
It’s been a very tough first week of ACC play for the Wolfpack, having dropped the first two games by a combined 46 points, and tipping off the new year with a 30-point loss to Notre Dame. In the ACC, NC State is dead last in two-point field goal percentage, at just 39.4 percent and remains to be the worst shooting team in the league. With Markell Johnson out with an injury, we don’t see this getting much better as they host the Blue Devils.
What else can they depend on aside from scoring? They aren’t too bad at rebounding offensively, but pulling in defensive boards is a different story. In fact, the entire defensive squad is just…off. Yeah, not much to go on in their attempt to take a straight up win over Duke.
Writer’s Prediction
